Chronophase

Chronophase is a 2.5D, action RPG game that combines real-time combat with elements of deckbuilding to create an experience that allows players to engage in fluid and satisfying fights. The player plays as Amis, a young knight who discovers that he has the power to travel through time to transform and become stronger for a short amount of time. The game takes place in the open world of Caloria and lets players explore and level up by interacting with a carefully crafted environment as well as acquire rewards and buildcraft to create a unique style of play. The player must navigate through this world, collect spellcards and items as well as level up get stronger and create their own playstyle to fight off the horde of vessels who have taken control over the country and terrorize the humans.

This project was a ludic sketch for a game that I had designed for my final year project, I had to research the market and justify why my game was commerically viable and would fit into the market after which I had to create a prototype showing the best features of the game. I focused on making fluid and responsive combat as well as allowing the player to be diverse through a multitude of build options. Iterating Chronophase constantly by allowing my peers to playtest and getting updates on uncertainties and finding bugs within the game helped me polish the game to an extent that I could never have achieved by myself.
